The artist herself spoke about the core principle behind her work. "God is the supreme creator of this universe and I, as an artist, take extreme pleasure in reflecting his creation in their actual form". Bardhan whose repertoire includes nature study, Indian mythology and city life, and who was drawn to spiritual art in later part of her career. 

Beside representing Nature bathed in bounteous colours, there is also an expression of the lives of women at rural Bengal."
